MIA.

Apologies for my absence.

I have been fighting the city, getting ready for a birthday bash, and fighting the city some more.
All the while keeping up with the daily to dos and last but not least, soccer soccer and more soccer times two!

Our concrete is gone.
This lucky man was hired courtesy of my tax dollars and told me not to be mad at him. I told him I wasn't. I mean really, how much common sense does he think I lack? Men and how they treat women, I tell you what! But that is a whole other topic.

So I was not mad at this guy just doing his job, or at least not until he started cutting in the wrong place. UURG! I let him have it after that. I think a few unkind words crept into my head, luckily I held them from coming out of my mouth. I had to fight tooth and nail for the extra foot on my bridge. No way was this guy going to get the few inches I won in this ridiculous battle.

Now in the concretes stead lies a big rectangle dirt patch.

They were quick to remove it and place new cement curbing. Almost assembly line type work. During the day of course, so that when people returned from work, they found their driveways in upheaval.
Strategy?
I most certainly think so.
Those sly little city devils.

Not sure when the beautification will happen, or if it ever will be beautified since it will most likely be a muddy mess from getting in and out of our driveway and from the mounds of snow, gravel and salt that will sit piled on it all winter.

Oh, but wait! I forgot I can put bricks down. That doesn't look tacky at all!

I asserted my freedom of speech. What else did I have left? I live on a busy road and noticed several passersby rubber necking and checking things out. James Geier himself even did several driveby's. I'm certain he thought my neighbor and I crazy ladies who were ready to strick at any moment. That made me chuckle. He never got out of his car and I was not surprised. Did I make a point? Who knows. But it sure got the neighborhoods attention. Their driveways are next!

A group of us even called the paper, talked to the editor and asked for a story. All we got was "this is redundant, it has been happening for 2 years. Maybe we'll look into it next week. I know the city is planning more". So, I thought. It takes over seven times to teach an average child a new concept before they master it. Obviously we need to keep discussing this argument until the city gets it. How disappointing. This little statement is all we got out of the organization that is supposed to stand as a voice for the people and a watchdog to the government. If I was not already disgusted with the Herald Journal as a paper, I am now. What a voice!

I'm disgusted by the apparent apathy by Logan residents in regards to recognizing the impact of government regulating every aspect of our lives. This is the west. It's already been won. Leave us landowners in peace with access to how we want to use our property. Little by little city, state and federal governments are trying to regulate their citizens. Why are more individuals not concerned with our God given rights as citizens of this country? Why do people take them for granted? If Logan was so intent on enforcing occupancy laws then why couldn't they find a suitable way to do it? Leave me alone. My family and I know the laws and follow them.

As for Logan City and UDOT, they have not heard the end of me. I plan to write to every lovely power hungry male I have spoken with. These words will not be nice. In the near future, I plan to fight for: a stop sign at the nearest intersection to my home, new trees in the parkstrip since mine are dying and have been a safety hazard to pedestrians for a long time, two sidewalks on two corners of my block, and a new sidewalk, since they tore some of mine up yesterday. I'm done being passive about things that have been bugging me for far too long. I'm out to see if the city is going to put their money where their mouth is and actually be in it for beautification and safety as they claim.

War has ensued.
Am I justified?
