Patella is back in line!

Our surgical patient is doing quite well. He does not even want his "addictive" drugs. This makes nurse Jen happy. While on Morphine, he told me , and I quote, that "we should buy a horse for our back yard and he could eat all the apples and grass". We are now sticking to just Ibuprofen.

He (we all) went to Physical Therapy at a snowy 9:00 am. today. Mick got a little queasy and almost passed out upon seeing his knee. When I came back into the room, he was eating ice chips- not his favorite staple. It was a good indicator that he was not feeling well. I had to chuckle a little. He is so sensitive about bodily fluids and 'gross' things.

He's still not supposed to put much weight on his knee. Crutches it is. Mick hates crutches. Should be a long 6 week recovery that Mick is slightly discouraged about. For his sake, I hope it does not take so long.

Dr Larson shaved Mick's leg for surgery, and today the physical therapist gave him some pretty white pantie hose to wear. He's been told to retire from basketball too. What's happening to my manly man! He told me he likes his hose- 'It's comfortable" he said. Okay, he must still be a man because I don't know of one woman who thinks pantie hose are comfortable! This is a good sign.

  1. A horse WOULD be fun to have in the backyard!!! Too bad the morphine is a drug of the past, because that means the funniest part of surgery is gone and the hard part of recovery is here. But I do hope he continues to improve and that you all have a wonderful Christmas vacation together!

  2. I'm sure the girls would love to have a horse in their backyard. I think mowing the lawn would be easier then having a horse to take care of.
