"Maybe it's called Bear Lake because bears are big and this lake is big"

We finally made it to the beach. Personally, I have been wanting to go since June. Fortunately, the weather was perfect and the water relatively warm for the August trip. I'm glad we waited, we would have suffered frostbite in June.

Cousin Ammon has been staying with us this week and came along on our trek through the canyon. He and Mick enjoyed throwing the ball and being as boys would in the water. Mick loves having a boy around, me too for that matter. I told Mick he seems more complete, like there is somebody to identify with. Oh, to have a son, if only for Mick's sake. Speaking of having a boy around. Everywhere we have gone, people think Ammon's mine. He totally fits in, especially with Aspen. He is a little older, so the timing works, and their Perkins genes seem to radiate when they're together. Also, it has been good to have an "older" kid in Aspen's life. I'm certain she's beginning to understand what I mean by "stop bossing your sister around, how would you like to be treated that way"! Thank your for the teaching opportunity Kala and Josh! We will miss Ammon when he goes. It has been fun to get to know him better. He has taught us to dress in our rooms, close the door behind us when we visit the little ladies room, and some new dancing skills. And for a shout out to Santa- I even have a complete list of his Christmas wishes!

I could not keep Abbie out of the wonderful Bear Lake sand. She loved every minute of it. You should have heard her vocal skills when I had to find a safe place for her in the stroller! Isn't she so cute crawling on the beach! Aspen, Ammon and Liberty loved getting warmly buried in the sand. They were so quiet and relaxed. Nobody wanted sand in their mouths. Ammon told me he wanted to take a nap right their! He quickly jumped up when I asked the kids who wanted to bury me. Who can resist being buried in the cool Earth. I love the feeling of the pressure of sand filling in around me. I think the kids did to.

We stayed for hours and still didn't manage to fit in kite flying- my favorite beach activity! We are planning another trip this coming Monday. Our butterfly and eagle are ready to take flight! By my shear will alone, they should get in the air. Hope the wind is blowing. Should be a great day at the Lake!

  1. Thanks for giving Ammon such great memories and for putting up with him, I mean having him, for so long!!! When I told Jonah and Micah today that we would go to Bear Lake with Aspen and Libby next week, they both wanted to know if there were lots of real bears there...so your title was so hilarious and fitting!

  2. Cute pictures. I so wish I could have been there! The sleepover was so fun, I loved my decorations and gifts from Libby and Spen. She told me when she gave me the love box, that when ever I felt alone, to open it and I would feel of her love. That touched me! That and Libby's bear are on my "dresser" (the cheap plastic kind, so if you can call it that). Tell them all hi for me. I love and miss you guys!
