Catch the bug

The girls and I beat the rain and headed to the library on foot and bike today. The summer reading program kicks off this week. I have never been to a noisier library! Mothers and their children pawing over book after book. It was a mad house!

Aspen was praised by her teacher for being a great reader and I want to insure her abilities through out the summer. She loves that she can read so many new signs, and print where ever we go. Liberty will often sit on her bed and thumb through one of her favorite books. I like that they are learning and enjoying themselves. Anything besides television makes me happy, and the children more well rounded. As for Abbie, she even has a love of books. She was given one for Christmas from aunt Lisa, entitled Spots and Dots. You should be able to understand the plot of that one. She enjoys holding it, and staring and talking at it for a very long time. She also loves her easter book, with a bunny head poking out of the cover. Such entertainment all around!

As for me, I always go to my sections, look at several books and then decide that I havn't the time for extra reading. Usually when I do find a book that seems appealing, I end up hating it. For now, I will stick to listening to books on CD. I can download them and listen on my Ipod while doing the many chores that beckon me. I also like to expand my mind listening to This American Life- Chicago Public Radio. It is a great Podcast. Anyhow, if you have any great book titles, please send them my way. I'm itching for a great read. One I did read recently that I loved, The Secret Life of Bees. I highly recommend it! Also, The Lovely Bones was a decent read.

  1. I also loved Secret Life of Bees. Have you read the "Twilight" series? I LOOOOVED it! I'm so happy your daughters like to read, my boys do as well. I enjoy reading stories to them every night, and it is so fun to have them acknowledge letters they recognize. How fun for Aspen, too, to spot words she knows everywhere! Discovery is such a great part of youth!
