Christmas came and went. This year was loaded with expectations no less than last year. Except, how do you top the surprise Minivan of yesteryear? Really, how do you? Poor Santa.
Mick wanted nothing, seriously- nothing. He's such a selfless example to me (if only I would learn vicariously!).
Aspen asked Santa for skis.
Liberty had split wishes of a camera or an Ipod
Abbie wanted a "big Rapunzel and a tiny Rapunzel".
As for me, a red teakettle, cross country skis, new running shoes, a new van key, ski lessons for Aspen- so I could tag along of course, a GPS... the selfish list goes on and on.
What kind of example am I setting for my children? I might do better next year. I just might.
Notes, cookies and eggnog were left for Santa's arrival.
Luckily the big man brought Mick a flashlight and orange sticks so he didn't feel too left out. I got a pretty red teakettle and a GPS (HOORAY!)
Aspen got her skis:
At 3:15 in the morning Aspen and Liberty herded up the stairs to Mick and I's peaceful bedroom like elephants excited for the waterhole. "Santa brought me skis, SANTA BROUGHT ME SKIS!" yelled aspen.
"What did you get Libby?", Mick questioned.
"I don't know, they're all wrapped".
At three in the morning, I will tell you that Mrs. Clause sure was wishing she had wrapped up those skis!
A quick five hours later the entire household woke up. Upon reading her note from Santa, Aspen said "mom, my skis fell out of the sleigh so they are a little scratched up but they are awesome... they were even wet!". Thank you KSL and Santa for a good deal and a happy kid. Now for getting them used...
Soon enough Liberty had unwrapped her camera, shooting almost 200 hilarious photos of Christmas 2010. That evening as Mick and I flipped through her shots, we couldn't keep from laughing. That is until we came to a naked poopy butt photo! SICK!!! Needless to say, the following day we had a good talk about photographer etiquette to a girl laughing hysterically. Since Christmas, her camera has not left her side. It only took her a day to say "But I didn't get an Ipod." Maybe for your birthday, I told her, Santa has to share with everybody. But look at this cool camera I said as she quickly stole it from me to take more pictures.
Abbie got her "big Rapunzel" barbie and has had Rapunzel's hair tangled and messed since the moment she perfectly exited her box. Seriously Matel, long flowing hair- what a mess! I constantly hear "mom, fix er air". One day I might just trim it up for a good lasting fix, for now, I'm getting good at Barbie braiding!
It feels good to have everybody happy. Thanks Santa for all your help in our financial endeavor. It was a joy watching the girls faces and reactions. I need to remember that come December 2011. Although the season is stressful and I'm often a grump, the girls happiness and innocence far out weighs the stress.
It was also fun having the Aunts come stay and celebrate Christmas with us. I sure loved our Christmas Eve sing along around the Piano! Thanks Tabbi, Tawna and Katrina.

Loved reading Mr. C's letters to the girls! Sounds like they were all spoiled with love and wonderful memories, and they got some great gifts too!!!
