Since childhood I've been wanting one of these:
Thanks to Mick for buying one (publicsurplus.com), dad for hauling the lovely beast up to Logan and helpful backs for lifting it up our stairs and into place. With a few cosmetic fixes- this piano should be as good as new. I have visions of it looking black and sleek. For now it will acclimate, get tuned and hopefully someone in our house will learn to play it!
The girls have been nonstop pushing its keys since it arrived on Saturday. Last night Liberty gave me a hug and said "I'm so happy grandpa brought us a piano". I concur. Music in the home will be great. Today I might get a chance to sit down and make out a tune. Sure wish I had my awesome free lessons back. Hopefully I can recall some of what Amy taught me two years ago. Time to break out the books.
Anyone want to come test it to see how close it is to being in tune? I'm so curious... Also there is one slightly sticky key. Any suggestions for unsticking?

Happy day! Your piano tuner can analyze and fix that sticky key. Or I wouldn't worry if it is really low or high cause you'll rarely hit it anyway. You may just peek in there and see if you can see anything foreign. I recently had a pen in mine that caused a sticky one.
ReplyDeleteHey I like the new look of your blog :-D
ReplyDeleteThat is SOOOO neat to get a piano. There is just something very sweet about having that wonderful music in your home. Get a good piano tuner and I agree with the first commentor he/she will be able to fix the sticky key.
Have fun!!
I hope you have many happy years of music in your home. A piano is a wonderful thing!

I am so excited for you! Next time I make it to Logan I'll be at your house and I want to hear "From A Wigwam!" Congrats!
ReplyDeleteLiza- quit sticking pens in your piano! Thanks for the tips.
ReplyDeleteAmy- I'll be practicing!
Thanks ladies, we are so excited... and I actually got to play some (out of tune no doubt) the other day.
