When we arrived, we took in a yummy lunch at the Days Inn Pam Pam cafe. The previous 5 days were peanut butter, tuna or meat sandwiches, almost while standing in line. I was entirely too sick of those types of quickie meals. My salad with balsamic dressing was heavenly. Stuffed silly, we headed to Mission Beach for the afternoon. As soon as we had arrived, we knew we should have come earlier during the day.
Aspen and Liberty were in instant heaven splashing in the cold powerful waves and feeling the sand drain from their feet with each receding wave. They caught the spirit of the beach quick. My favorite moments were catching waves back to shore with Aspen, and laughing silly with Liberty and watching her fight the waves karate style. Their smiles never faded until we left.
Abbie had been having some sickies earlier, but enjoyed her play in the sand. One touch of water splashing up her legs sent a shrill up to the sky and her little legs scrambling back to the warm sand and her toys.
Mick was able to see one of the historical ships he had read about, and collect sea shells with Aspen and Liberty.
What a peaceful, lovely afternoon. I was able to catch my favorite- a sunset- and over the Pacific even. I sat with the suns rays falling all over me, and was humbled to contemplate the creation, the beauty and majesty of the Earth and knowing that as a human, I am part of God's creations. We truly are blessed by having such an intricate, living, providing place in which to live. How people cannot believe in God after witnessing such a sunset is beyond me.
Quickly the sun dropped and the night sky darkened. I'm used to western mountains hiding the sunset and giving me at least an hour longer of light with a palate colored sky. The sheer difference of day and night seemed almost immediate as the sun disappeared behind the horizon.
We settled in the hotel early after a yummy pasta dinner and anticipated two more days of crowds and lines. Secretly, I wanted to bag Sea World and the zoo and just chill at the beach for two more days. I missed it the instant we left.
What a perfect and peaceful place to go in between all the chaos and people!!! How awesome for your girls to see the pacific ocean and to play in the gorgeous sandy beaches!!!
