Those are the words that enter my head now that I've decided to run the Freedom Run- a 15K. 9.3 miles to be exact(thanks Tawna), a conversion for those, like myself who have never been a fan of the metric system.
I'm going into this run with a few objectives.
1) To prepare me, race wise for the 1/2 marathon I'll be running August 29th. Saturdays run chases some of the same course as the marathon.
2) To mentally and physically remind myself that I can do it (meaning running 13 miles in August- ouch!)
3) Because I absolutely love Blacksmith Fork Canyon. So to run downhill, with the morning canyon wind at my back surrounded by beautiful natural vistas will make me feel more whole and alive. Love that canyon- did I mention that? Do I get up there near enough- No! So I'm taking this opportunity. Peacefully! I may even turn off my Ipod and enjoy the sounds.
4) To do something healthy for myself on my Birthday. Then I can eat as much cake and ice cream and parade sweets my little heart desires!
Wish me luck!
HOLY CRAP!
I am so excited for you! You're gonna do great! Good Luck and Happy Birthday!!!
ReplyDelete9.3 miles to be exact. Sometimes that last little bit (.2, .3) can be the toughest :) Yay! I think it's so great you're doing it! Who cares if you have to walk some of it! By the way, I tried a new technique last night. I ran the first mile without stopping and then thought I would mix it up a bit, so I would then run half a mile to 3/4 of a mile, and then walk for .1-.15 and then run 1/2 or 3/4 again, and then walk. I actually got a better time when I did this! So I'm going to try it again Saturday on my longer 6 mile run and see what my time will be, compared to the 10K I did where I mainly ran. If it's a better time I might just do it that way! Although I think on the half, I can go longer distances between walking since it's mainly running downhill.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, can't wait to hear how it goes! I'll be running that morning as well, so I'll pretend I'm there with you!
Holy Crap is right! You are my hero!!
ReplyDeleteI would love to be able to do something like that but truthfully I am a wimp!!
