Ode to Dad

"Raising a girl takes two parents: A mom to show her how to be a woman. A dad to show her how to be independent. A dad's job is to make his daughter courageous. Fearless. To make her feel beautiful. To give her a sense of adventure. To make her feel secure and confident The relationship between a dad and a daughter is very simple: She will love her father and trust him completely, forever. Because he's her first love. Her first Hero. The first man in her life".
-Harry Harrison-

I bought this book, Father to daughter, Life lessons on Raising a Girl, for Mick, a few years ago for Fathers' Day. Who knew that he would have three daughters. Such wisdom this invaluable little book offers. I hope he's read it, and plans on rereading it! Thanks for being such a great father to the girls Mick, and for enjoying them to the fullest. It makes me proud to be your wife.

I also enjoyed reading This little book. It offered me a chance to view my father and I's relationship in a new light. The quote above reminded me of him. It is my wish, that every little girl in the world have the unconditional love and guidance from a great daddy in their life. This important relationship, truly makes us, as women, more whole. I'm so grateful that I had a father who loved me, who put me a top his priority list and felt it his duty to be my daddy, come what may. I have never questioned if my father loved me. That is a treasure I will never take for granted!

Recently, I emailed dad about my fitness adventures. His reply: Jen, remember we love you no matter what you look like! So simple, so heartfelt. Just another time in my life I have felt the measure of his love. I love you dad! Happy Fathers' Day! Hugs and Kisses to you XOXOXO.
