Not The Nest Building Mess I Planned On

My house is a mess and I cannot control much of it. We have two bedrooms out of commission and piles of stuff everywhere. I love home improvement projects but only wish I knew how to do it all myself (or could at this rate), because it would have been done last week. As it stands this is turning into a month long process and if it doesn't kill me, it will surely make me very ornery. And we all know who suffers when the mom is ornery, so I'm actively trying to practice at least an ounce of patience. Baby steps.

Speaking of babies...

With my lack of control over the continuous tornado that is my house, I got creative and made something that I know how to make (and clean up): a monogrammed receiving blanket.

I've made so many of these and each time my newest one becomes my favorite. Despite the fancy lowercase k looking like a capital R, I love how this turned out. It is cute, soft, retro, tree hugger friendly, feminine and not too pink. I made it for Marni's daughter who was born a few weeks back. Marni loved it, so all was a success. Little Katelynn will be resting in cuteness and comfort. Tweet, tweet!

Now back to practicing patience while living in chaos during nesting season...
