Nesting Dreams and Nightmares
Lately our house is undergoing a makeover and its occupants, a shift.
Aspen adopted her new suite downstairs leaving what is affectionately known as "the blue room", empty. Liberty has taken to sleeping with Aspen nightly. Mostly out of force, not choice, since there are spiders, scary furnace noises and deep recesses of darkness located in the basement that might suck a sleeper into if she lacks a bed buddy. It's amazing they're both still alive.
The blue room, once emptied sans a bed, has now become filled with Abbie's treasures she constantly requests to "put in my blue room" Each night she sleeps in her blue room's bed and seems to not acknowledge when we tell her that the blue room is soon to be the baby's room.
But plans are in place.
Mick and I's attic love shack will be what I've always envisioned it to be. A lofty attic bedroom with two twin beds, a closet for each child and space for toys, books and games. It will be bright with East and West window light, sprinkled with splashes of pastel pinks and purples. Abbie will move upstairs. Liberty will move upstairs. And at this rate Aspen will likely start sleeping between them on the floor which might make me consider taking back my sewing room in the basement!
Sewing projects on the dining room table are just not as fun.
Soon Mick and I will take up residence in the master bedroom... again. We will see normal dreams fulfilled like having a close bathroom and a bedroom door. Need I say why we are looking forward to these features? Our room will have new "romantic" (according to Mick) recessed dim lighting, redone electrical wiring, a fresh coat of paint that is not purple, new carpet and a newly built master closet- half of which will be stolen from the unborn who has no say.
As for the babe, I hope he/she comes home from the hospital to the blue room refinished with a new unisex wall color, a small closet, and a crib anticipating a fresh little body to warm under its newly finished bubble quilt.

First, I must tell you that I'm happy to see you public blogging again! Second, I've thought often about the number of times we had to rearrange and move bedrooms in our old house. With each new baby born, everyone's space was restructured. We moved kids in and out of bedrooms, and in the last room change before the new house, we gave up the master bedroom for the 3 growing boys, and Josh and I took a smaller space. It's a true mark of sacrifice that you are willing to do it, too!! But with each room rearranging, it felt like new spaces were created and it brought me so much happiness! I'm looking forward to seeing all the positive changes you are making in your house, too!
