| Canyon Overlook- ZNP- Lael, Marni and me. |
Two weeks later and my no sugar plan was the most difficult yesterday. Anything chocolate (and yummy!) would have sufficed my desire. Alas, I remained strong and today was a new day, with no cravings. Lent is hard, and I'm not even half way in, but I will survive.
Ash Wednesday fell a day before I left on a ladies trip to Zion NP. With plans for a road trip south, I wondered how easily I would handle the first three days of sugar withdrawal. Good conversation and popcorn worked like a charm for time spent in the car. Hiking and camping in nature had me at peace and busy enough that sweets were hardly missed. Thank goodness for healthy distractions.
So far, benefits of no sugar have been decreased time in the kitchen, better sleep, less sugar withdrawls, looser pants, and more steady energy without blood sugar spikes and dips- all in two weeks. I'm excited to see what the next four weeks bring.

Did you hike Angels Landing to the top? Most scary thing EVER!!! AND...I can't quite do the sugar thing, but I am trying to forgo dairy...not easy or fun. But I think it is making a difference. I'm cheering for you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun time that was! Thanks again for making it happen. I love the views from the top of that mountain.
ReplyDeleteKris, Thanks for the cheers! We failed to make the fin of Angel's Landing. Some ice, snow and most likely a really cold chain. After words, an Aggie I met in the camp restroom mentioned that her group had done the hike and there was a big piece of chain missing at a scary part. So, I'm thankful for a smart decision and to have made it home to my babies.
ReplyDeleteLael, I love my shots of you at the top of that mountain. Such a great trip! I had such fun with you and Marni. When are we going again? Arches?
