Heard Christmas Today

My dream house complete with humongous wreath, three fireplaces, manicured bushes and skittle trees. How do I construct a veranda?
Mick is a simple man. His passions range between me, sports, the girls, Aggie sports, me and the girls and Christmas. Which makes it terribly hard for me to purchase gifts for him, though that's another story.

He absolutely loves Christmastime. Usually he has a daily countdown starting around Halloween. I say usually because come to think of it, I have not heard it much this year. Also, the day after Christmas it's usually a given Mick will say "I can't believe it's over (with his sad eyes)... we have to wait 364 more days..." He kills me with this.

Year by year I'm warming up to Christmas. We've even had some family records this season. Gingerbread houses were constructed ON THANKSGIVING! if you can believe it. Typically I'm all about getting one holiday over before we start the next, but in the same day... only an hour after a meal. Sheese, sorry Thanksgiving. Also, Christmas, complete with tree, was up before November even had the chance to say goodbye.

But life has been stressful lately- to say the least, and besides some twinkling lights and setting up a few nativities, I have been lacking in Christmas spirit. Our house has been lacking in Christmas spirit. Thank goodness we have had choir concerts and tree lighting ceremonies to attend. Children singing always invites the spirit of the season.

Mick appreciates Christmas music and will likely have it playing throughout the holidays. He will occasionally sing along, though would claim he's not a singer. That's why today as I was half asleep making waffles, I had to smile hearing Mick in the shower belting out "on the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me..." opera style, until he forgot verse six and was forced to stop. Abbie even giggled and said "mom, dad is singing like a man."

Mick's singing made my day and invited me a little closer to the season. Can't wait to hear what song he picks to sing during tomorrows shower.
