More Spokane Travels

Spokane Valley LDS Temple

Who would have guessed that adjacent to the church where Mick lost two of his baby teeth at a Halloween party, an LDS temple would be built. The Temple was located on a peaceful little spot nestled next to a mountain over pass that lead us to Lake Coeur D'Alene.

Mick grew up visiting his grandparents lake house each summer. We even took our engagement pictures on their property during the only time I spent on the Lake. Going back to see the old house made us want to cry. First for the shear fact that it was in great disrepair from when Grandpa took such fine care of its landscape, and second, because the prime lake front property is no longer in the family. What a gem this place is. I'm happy Mick was able to visit his grandparents there and make such fond memories.

On our peaceful high mountain meadow drive, I found this perfect plot of land to nestle my dream home on. Is it not breath taking? I'd love to call it home someday. According to Mick it is only missing one thing... a lake.

Mike and Ruth took us into downtown Spokane for a bite to eat at Dick's (an almost famous drive-in burger joint straight out of the 1950's!) and a trip to River Front Park, home of the 1964 World's Fair. One giant wagon, amusement rides and a refreshing fountain later, we'd had a fun filled afternoon in the city.
While Mick was getting his interviewing of Grandpa done, Ruth and I took the girls out for a shopping adventure, lunch and some much needed pool time at the hotel. We never made it for our walk along the Centennial Trail that follows the Spokane River, but thankfully I'd had a nice run along the wooded river earlier that day.

And last but not least, it is never a quality trip to Spokane with the Perkins without a stop at The White Elephant toy and outdoor store. Of course Mike spoiled the girls with their choice of any toy that made their eyes sparkle and we came home with three new Barbie friends. Just what we needed to add to our current playroom population of 95 females and 5 males!
