Your Turn.

I have been utterly EXHAUSTED lately!

What healthy foods are you eating to keep you awake and functioning with full brain capacity and energy to span the day? Any suggestions on power foods/meals?

Typing suggestions into Google and doing research may take my last ounce of push. Besides, I'm really hoping you can offer me a quick fix before I pass oooooooo............... . . . . . .

  1. Have you ever gotten a bountiful basket? I've been downing the fruits and veggies this week because I don't want them to go to waste. Great energy boost!

  3. After a hard workout try chocolate whey protein, a banana, 2 ice cubes and milk all blended up. A little peanut butter on whole wheat toast is good too!

  4. I have to do protein and whole grains to make it through the day. Eggs, whole-wheat toast (check the bag to make sure each piece has at least 3 grams of fiber), whole-grain cereals for breakfast. Krusteaz has a pretty good whole-wheat pancake mix. For snacks, whole unsalted almonds, dried fruit, walnuts, quick breads (banana and pumpkin bread using half whole-wheat in the recipe). I could share the recipes if you like. Lunch I go heavy on protein ... peanut butter, tuna fish, sandwich meat. I try and get veggies in at dinner.

  5. For a hot dinner - I like to stir fry all sorts of fresh or frozen vegies with a cut up chicken breast and a little cheese.

For cold - in the blender goes sugar free yogurt, skim milk, whatever fresh or frozen fruit I have on hand. Usually strawberries, peaches and raspberries. I also peel and freeze bananas just as they are starting to become over ripe.

  6. Kim, I'm gone the next two weekends, but I have been looking into those baskets, I hear they are wonderful!

Heidi, Only size two's can have ice cream on a daily basis. Too bad for me, hooray for you!

Kris, I plan to try your recipe after my mini workout tomorrow. That is precisely when my body zonks out.

Lael, Love your snack idea. Thank you. I already consume good amounts of healthy whole grains, but I definitely need to work on more protein. That may be the key.

    Thanks for your help ladies!
