"Chief" Stanley Gerald Brown passed away December 30, 2009 due to kidney and heart failure. Stanley was the sixth and last child born to Henry Thompson and Mary Katurah "Kate" Vincent Brown in Provo, Utah on June 24, 1926. He was educated in Provo, Utah.
He served in the U.S. Navy in Singtow, China from 1944-1946. He married Lois Bullock on September 3, 1947 in Provo, Utah. They were later sealed in the Provo Temple. They had four children. Stan served Provo City for 44 years. He was a member of the Provo City Fire Department for 34 years; serving as Fire Chief for 13 years. He also served on the Provo City Council for 10 years. He was active in civic organizations. He was an honorary member the National, State and Western Fire Chief Associations. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in ward clerk positions and enjoyed serving with the youth. He enjoyed camping and fishing and special friends. They spent 17 years as St. George Snow Birds!
Stan is survived by his spouse Lois; sons Edward (Brenda) Brown, Provo, UT and Glen (Teri) Brown, Panguitch, UT; daughter-in-law Nikki Lewis, Orem, UT; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents; siblings Edith, Helen, Ted, Vince and Mary; son Sam R. Brown and daughter Kate Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 4, 2009 at the Bonneville 1st Ward Chapel, 85 South 900 East, Provo. Friends may call at Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center, Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and at the church Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
