A Visual- and an after thought

While driving past a horse pasture on our way to swimming Liberty got excited.
"Mom! Mom! See those horses by that tree? They are kissing and hugging"!
On my return trip after dropping her at lessons, I made sure to check out the horses.
They were indeed standing face to face giving 'kisses'.
Or at least I'm hoping this is all she saw!

Liberty has a friend named James. He lives down the street. She loves him. Today the two of them were doing good to mind rules by not leaving their allotted play spots, since both moms were busy, so they enjoyed one another's company through the fence. The sight was quite endearing. This happened for a short while til James came to play. Liberty had a beautiful tea party set up in the shade of the apple tree, complete with real water and other silent stuffed friends. James was happy to join them. They played and played to their hearts content. Rumor has it...they kissed...on the lips...and James wants to marry her! Oh my, already in love and they are only 5!

We will be having a nice talk about kissing tomorrow. I was hoping this could wait a few years. Sorry Regina, you might be having the same conversation...

After thought: Liberty with a smile on her face will NOT confess to the above mentioned 'kiss'. Aspen swears it occurred and has now admitted to setting the whole thing in motion(they had to kiss to get married). I'm not sure who to believe. Anyhow, we had a good conversation about kissing.

The girls asked, "Why can you and dad kiss if we aren't supposed to"?

"Because we are old, daddy and I are special to each other, and we love each other and when you married you can kiss as much as you want".

"Do you have to get married to kiss"?

"No, but you need to be older and make sure you really think the guy you want to kiss is special".

"Oh"...

"So Libby did you kiss James"?

"(big smile)...No"...

Why do I get a sinking sensation that my girls may become exactly like me when I was a teenager. Scares me silly. Libby especially. She is too romantic and lighthearted for her own good. I should know. Diligent mommy is about to step it up.

  1. Wow they are much to young for that. James is such a romantic though, he is always talking about marriage and having children. He and Gracie got married at the park earlier. That is a cute story, they were so funny when they were talking to one another through the fence. Thanks for letting him come over.
