"This Bird Made the Ultimate Sacrifice".

Aspen's Turkey

Mike
(aka: Dad, Grandpa Perkins) said while eating his beloved turkey "This bird made the ultimate sacrifice. Chicken only sacrifice an egg here and there, just a small sacrifice...not this bird, he gave his life". What a beautiful ode to the turkey. It was good to see his sensitive side, even if it was about a bird.

For the second time in a row in a long list of Holiday gatherings with the Perkins, everyone got along and had plenty of fun. I was so proud of everyone who held their tongue and kept sweet. Ruthie (aka: Mom, Grandma Perkins) must have been praying really hard for this event to occur. I know she is pleased and had herself a wonderful time as well. It was catching to hear her laugh at her children in old home videos. Thanks for the prayers Ruth. It sure made for an enjoyable Holiday. Can't we all get along like this from now on? I think so.

Such fun watching all the Perkins folk as children.
Mick still has not moved very far from the couch- what do you know, the other woman shows her comfortable ugly face!
Cody still looks like he's not in the mood and is extremely annoyed by all- although he may not be.
Kala
maintains control and is the "mother" of the group- likes to organize people and things. Tawna is still sweet & quiet but always in the fore-front, funny and surrounded by children. Tabbi, well she's still independent, doing her own thing and wants you to do her thing, which could be a positive attribute. We missed Tabbi.
Katrina is still the baby and unfortunately like all the last children in families, will always be... even though she clearly is not. Sorry trina, I'm in your corner on the issue.

Would have loved to spend the day with Lisa, Mack, Malcolm and Quinn- Hope you guys had a great turkey feast with all the fixins.

Aspen, Liberty and Abbie had fun with the Tolman boys. I'm Thankful that my girls get to spend time with cousins. It's important to me. Josh and BreAnne, aren't family get togethers getting a lot more fun- must be our outsiders influence? We provide a good mix up. We could use some more outsiders- hint hint.

Despite the fun, I did miss spending Thanksgiving with all the Browns. There's just something special about the smell of mom's turkey cooking her oven, cleaning her table and chair legs with exactness and the table looking exquisite. Next year. Could you all move up here please? Boy if I had old home videos, which I might add am quite fine with the fact that I do not (how humiliating- thanks mom!), I would still be demanding, wanting to be part of everything and having a good time doing my own thing. Sure of it.

I'm thankful for all of the beautiful people in my life and thankful that they allow me to be a part of theirs, but still be myself. So much to learn from all of them.

Happy Thanksgiving...a day late, but never too late.

  1. I hope it's just ironic, but everyone seems to get along now that I am gone. Sad, but I'm glad you had a good holiday.
