Olympic Lifts; boy, it's a good thing I'm not an actress- camera's make me shy.

I come across so many people who want to know what I've been doing to loose weight. Thank you for all the kind complements. I have been working quite hard at this.

The process- not so simple but very gratifying. It's a combination of eating whole foods with equal parts protein and carbs, no sugar, and little fat up to six times a day, for six days. FAT- if it's good, is important, just not in large quantities- darn it! I love the stuff. Then I lift, and have a free food high calorie day and start back over again.

There are a number of different lifting routines (which will be out on DVD, starring yours truly- along with the nutrition program in December) I do three times a week, along with strength training. Many of you have wanted to see what Olympic weightlifting is, so I made you a video of the two lifts that we work up to and learn in this program. I only do them at 45lbs so far. Would love to start adding more weight. Soon enough!

For your viewing pleasure.

Please... no laughing. OOHS and AHHS are acceptable.

  3. That's my girl!!! O.k., someone forwarded me this video link and told me to watch it. Glad I did! You look maaaaavalous! Seriously. O.k., ready for competition? If you can upload video like this, we're in action. Here's your pointer for the week - and I will expect, based on my experience with you, that you will have it mastered by next week. You need to get under the bar faster before you catch it. You are making both lifts one movement - which is GOOD! Now, try to beat the bar. LAND the snatch or the clean in the low position before the bar is done moving. And let's start adding weight. What metal plates do you have? We need stands too - you need to have the bar positioned at the right height before you begin the lift (vs. on the floor). Try to get it off the floor with books or wood blocks or something. Write me back!

  4. ...and the UT state championships are Feb 21st at Union Middle School in Sandy at 11:00 a.m. You should come watch if you can (kids need to be quiet - I had to stop bringing Jack because right before someone did the jerk he'd yell "pow!" just like he used to do for me in the garage to cheer me on). You'll learn a lot about competition to get ready for summer games.
